TOP 5 CARS OF THE FUTURE

Our pick of the most promising cars and SUVs coming soon to a forecourt near you ..

1. Ferrari Purosangue ( 2022 )

Despite Ferrari claiming time and time again that an SUV will never bear the iconic prancing horse, it seems that Ferrari has taken a massive u-turn with the new Ferrari Purosangue. Scheduled for release in 2022 the Purosangue which translates as "thoroughbred" will be the brands first ever SUV anf given the competition from Lamborghini with the Urus and Aston Martin with the DBX and Rolls Royce with the Cullinan it seemed almost inevitable.

Ferrari have been very tight lipped about the specifications of the vehicle so at present we are unsure what will be under the hood, but the engine range could include turbocharged V6 and V8 engines with outputs of around 700 hp, the big question is whether it will have a hybrid system similar to that of the LaFerrari hypercar back in 2014.

No photos or renders have been released of the interior, so we have no idea what the cabin of the Purosangue will be like or what infotainment system it will include, one think we can be assured of it that the Ferrari Purosangue will not be cheap with an estimated starting price of € 300,000.

2. Audi E-Tron GT (2021 )

The Audi E-Tron GT is the next electric Audi being launched following in the footsteps of the Audi e-tron SUV and the Audi e-tron Sportback however instead of being an SUV, it is a four-door saloon inspired by Gran Turismo, which combines sportiness and elegance in equal measure.

Power is distributed to all four wheels by means of a 'torque vectoring' system which, together with the low center of gravity of the Audi e-tron GT, will result in very efficient handling. Whilst there will be different power and battery capacity configurations a dual-motor powertrain will provide it 590 horsepower (434 kW) allowing it to reach 60 mph in 3.5 seconds with a top speed regulated at 149.1 mph (240 km/h) to maximize the range which Audi claims will be over 400 kilometers (248.5 mi).

With four doors and four seats and a 2.90 meters (9.5 ft) wheelbase – the Audi E-Tron GT promises to provide a large dose of everyday usability, coupled with a superb quality feel.

3.  BMW i4 ( 2021 )

The BMW i4 is the first exclusively electric BMW Gran Coupé, and a fascinating example of the consolidation of electric drive at BMW. Equipped with the fifth generation of BMW eDrive technology, the BMW Concept i4 achieves impressive performance values.

Drivers and occupants can expect an extremely sporty driving experience that cannot be expressed in numbers alone. The propulsion system will be powered by a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 80 kWh and a weight of 550 kg, which will give the i4 a range of 600 kilometers between charges. At the same time, it will offer different recharging options, highlighting the 150 kW fast charge that will allow reaching 80% of the battery level in just 35 minutes. In addition, in just six minutes it will be possible to add 100 kilometers of extra autonomy.

Inside, the new BMW i4 presents a curved display teamed up with the steering wheel to reveal a new expression of driver-focused design. This will be the display also used in the production version of the BMW iNEXT.

The i4 provides a whole new take on the dynamic excellence for which BMW is renowned and blends a modern, elegantly sporty design with the spaciousness and functionality of a four-door Gran Coupe – all while generating zero local emissions.

4. Maserati MC20 ( 2021 )

The new Maserati MC20 super sports car combines performance, sportiness and luxury in the unique Maserati style.

The MC20 is incredible aerodynamic efficiency and an extremely lightweight car under 1,500 kg (kerb weight), and thanks to its power output of 630 hp it comes out best in class in weight/power ratio, at just 2.33 kg/hp combined with the new Nettuno engine, a 630 horsepower V6 with torque of 730 Nm that delivers 0-100 km/h acceleration in under 2,9 seconds and a top speed over 325 km an hour.

The MC20 is designed to enable coupé and convertible versions and for full electric power and best pf all it sports butterfly doors which are not only stunningly beautiful but also functional improving the car’s ergonomics and optimal access to and from the cabin.

Previewed for the first time at the 89th Geneva Motor Show, the Vanquish will be a mid-engine supercar targeting the defining dream machines of the moment.

featuring a bonded-aluminum spaceframe instead of the carbon-fiber tub used on the company's hypercars.
